Psychotherapy
As a clinical psychologist I treat adults with a variety of mental health issues including anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, relationship problems, behavioral issues and attentional and executive functioning deficits.
In psychotherapy treatment, I use a combination of techniques based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, and a variety of Interpersonal Therapy models. Therapy focuses on understanding the issues involved in emotional and behavioral concerns and developing effective problem-solving and coping strategies. Relaxation, Stress Reduction and Mindfulness techniques are also taught for symptom reduction and maintenance of health.
My philosophy as a clinician is to keep informed of the current research on the best proven treatment methods in the field of psychology, neuropsychology and psychiatry. At the same time, I believe that an honest and trusting relationship between therapist and client is a critical part of effective treatment. I take great care in tailoring treatment to the needs of the client.
The work is strongly collaborative; at all times the client is included in both the process and planning of treatment. Referrals for psychiatric and other medical evaluations are made when appropriate.
